What types of service do you offer?

Dr. Thies offers a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of children (ages 2-17) and adults. Services include:

  • Consultations: For individuals, parents, educators, or healthcare providers seeking expert guidance on developmental, behavioral, emotional, or learning concerns. These sessions can help determine whether a full evaluation is needed or offer recommendations for immediate next steps.

  • Targeted Evaluations: Focused assessments that address specific questions, such as concerns about AD/HD, learning disabilities, or the impact of emotional difficulties on daily functioning.

  • Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessments: In-depth evaluations that examine cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning. These assessments are tailored to individual’s unique needs and provided a detailed report profiling strengths and challenges. Results include personalized recommendations for school, work, treatment, or daily life.

Whether you are seeking support for a child with developmental differences or an adult navigating cognitive changes or mental health concerns, Dr. Thies offers thoughtful, evidence-based evaluations and recommendations to support your personal goals.

What does the evaluation involve?

The evaluation typically involves 3-4 appointments.

First, we meet for an intake where we discuss you or your child’s background, presenting concerns, and goals for the evaluation. Questionnaires are completed by the child or adult, as well as parents and teachers when applicable.

Depending on individual needs and goals, testing is done over 1-2 sessions which includes assessments of intelligence, attention, processing speed executive function, learning and memory, visual-spatial processing, fine-motor skills, academic abilities, and social-emotional functioning.

Following the assessment, we have a feedback session to discuss results and treatment recommendations.

What do I bring to the evaluation?

Prior to the assessment, please provide copies of previous evaluations, current/past IEPs, school records, and relevant medical records. On the day of the evaluation, you or your child should take medication as prescribed, and bring glasses, hearing aids, communication devices, etc. We also recommend bringing snacks or water for breaks, though the office is conveniently located nearby local dining options.

Where is your office?

My office is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Address to be provided upon scheduling. Intake and feedback sessions can be conducted via telehealth.

How much does an evaluation cost?

Dr. Thies provides tiers of service based on individual needs. Rates are comparable to other NYC and Brooklyn-based private practices. I do not currently contract with insurance companies as an in-network provider but can provide a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Half of the fee is due on the date of the assessment and the other half is due prior to the feedback session and receipt of the final report.
