What does the evaluation involve?
Typically three to four appointments. We begin with an intake covering background, presenting concerns, and goals. Questionnaires are completed by the child or adult, and by parents and teachers when applicable. Testing takes place over one or two sessions. We then meet for a feedback session to discuss results and recommendations.
What should I bring?
Beforehand, please send copies of previous evaluations, current or past IEPs, school records, and relevant medical records. On the day, take medication as prescribed and bring glasses, hearing aids, or communication devices. Snacks and water are welcome for breaks, and the office is near local dining options.
Where is the office?
The office is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; the address is provided upon scheduling. Intake and feedback sessions can be conducted via telehealth.
How much does an evaluation cost?
Dr. Thies offers tiers of service based on individual needs, with rates comparable to other NYC and Brooklyn private practices. She does not currently contract with insurance companies as an in-network provider, but provides a detailed receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Half the fee is due on the date of the assessment and the remainder before the feedback session and final report.
